Ubiquitous computing at a crossroads: Body Sensor Networks

With an aging population and in increase of chronic age related diseases there is a need for Patient Centric Healthcare. Hardware miniaturization, ultra-low power design and autonomic sensing; Autonomic sensing with intelligent on-node processing is key to the overall robustness and pervasive, user centric design of the system. Heterogenic integration and muti-sensor integration/fusion with ambient sensing combined with cognitive sensing principles represent unique research opportunities.
